I just re-captured the moments of my campus selection for you. This was the point of time when everything around me was transforming. College premises, mates, professors…everything felt fresh. And with the same fresh air I went to join my maiden company in the summer of 2004. The company was ABB and I was placed at Bangalore.
It was fag end of 2007, when I left the company and the place... (may be for the time being). But, when I sum up my life of 3 years over there…I find it a nice package of development in my personal and professional conduct. Let me go back into the memory lane and share a few with you.
The most cherished times were a couple of trips to MDI, Gurgaon. First one was right at the time of joining where a bunch of 60+ fantastic young lads gathered. Six months later, we had another trip. These two trips are popularly known for the amount of fun we had. People use to call it a paid holiday. It was, by the way, meant for imparting managerial skills to us, which actually was quite rich in that regard. We also gained ceaseless friendships with some great pals, which at present is a great chain in our professional world.
The Silicon Valley - Bangalore always gives pleasant welcome to the people arriving there. Stay in that city gives further pleasantries. It’s because of many reasons including its climate & cosmopolitan culture. It’s a city to explore and I had adventure doing it. Throughout this adventure I had a very special companion – My bike. I was part of a terrific biker gang there. Thanks to some phenomenal friends who made it real exotic. Talking about friends….I gained many in the form of colleagues. They still remain to be benchmark for me in terms of their distinctive qualities they possessed.
Premier Grihalakshmi Apartment remains to be most happening place for all bachelor ABBians. All of them….for once…dwelt in there. You may say it a saving grace. The aesthetics of that place has got nothing great to mention. It was the occupancy of major chunk of ABBins over there that has got a lot to talk about. I had fantastic time staying there. It was because of some great pals in general and a very nice room-mate in particular. Post dinner walks around the apartment were indeed something to mention. My companions of those times will understand how we use to go around the premises expecting those daily damsel walkers. Our direction use to be reverse in order to ensure that we encounter them. Further late in the night, we use to sit on the “jhoolas” of the park area and take out our frustration of work over a fag.
Blaming one's own work has become the part of fashion these days and I wasn’t unexceptional in this regard. Say it because of the quality or volume of work; say it because of aspirations of doing higher studies; or say it because of every month-end frustration after seeing pay-slips. A mixture of all these made me to move out from that company. And the re-location was something that came as a by-product of this shift. I’m now working with AREVA in Kolkata.
In spite of all the perplexities in my erstwhile job, when I retrospect, I see a certain level of earnings in techno-commercial domain of my work and a nicely groomed professional for an experience of my level. But my decision to move out from that company was the illustration of the philosophy that - At some point of time in your life it becomes important to take decisions immaterial of its outcome.
Those who have read my last blog will find a certain variation in my opinion about my work in the last company. Just to clarify it – that one had come out as on the job frustration and this one is coming out of wistfulness.
Well….Many more swings in life to come…..Many & more challenges…..and I close my blog with the following quote from Ms. Connie Chung:
I wanted to be scared again... I wanted to feel unsure again.
That's the only way I learn, the only way I feel challenged.
